This is a glicee photo print featuring the artful veins of a river on the south coast of Iceland. I feel the need to explain; this is an actual photo. Not AI. Not digital art. Not a painting. The colors, formed from sulfur-rich sediments and dissolved minerals from nearby volcanic geothermal areas, reflect the pallet present on a view of earth from space. (“terra” is the italian word for “earth”) Blues, oranges, and greens battle for attention. Ironically, just as I have never seen earth from space, I have never seen this river with my own two eyes. This print is perhaps the most special to me because it feels the most inaccessible and rare. The river is tucked away past an inaccessible strip of land, so I have only been acquainted with it because of my drones. How unfair for my drone to have seen something I have never laid my own eyes on.
