about bry
Hi, I’m Bry! Welcome to my little corner of the internet,
A bit about me and what I do - I grew up in Jamaica and New York, but always dreamed of the farthest reaches of the world. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, where I studied Film, English Literature, and The Classics. This amalgamated into a career doing creative development and programming for scripted series and films. Its the best job in the world! I always saw my career and my photography hobby as two totally different pursuits, both of which I loved equally. However, when I learned about fine art printing a few years ago, I drew a connection that totally changed the way I go about capturing and appreciating photographs.
I grew up loving movies. I was consistently fascinated by their transportive capabilities. One minute I could be on the hull of a sinking ship in The Titanic, and in another, I could be plopped into the idealized pastel suburb of Anywhere, USA from Edward Scissorhands. It became quite clear early on that the settings were what sucked me into the movies I loved. And I wanted to be a part of the next generation to create that magic. In 2017, I wrote my university thesis on the power of landscapes and geographical frontiers in movies. With 2 broad majors and a minor, I could have picked almost anything to write about. I realized then that exploration and discovery would be at the root of everything I would go on to do. In both my career in film and TV, and in my hobby as a travel photographer, my goal was and is fundamentally the same; to transport an audience - to create a portal to another place.
Moved by the negative societal affects of digital over-consumption, I went back to basics. Art on a wall - simple as that! Each photo has been selected with the intent of adorning the spaces that we as humans physically spend the most time in; homes, offices, libraries, restaurants, etc. I hope my photo prints, in showcasing the real and raw terrains that I have been lucky enough to see with my own eyes, can serve as a portal in your space. Let me transport you to some of the most beautiful corners of planet earth!
