This is a set of 4 images (4 separate prints), meant for a “gallery wall” style of framing. The series is named Dragonstone, after the fictional island fortress of House Targaryen, located in Blackwater Bay, Westeros. Of course, inspired by my love of the Game of Thrones television adaptation. Reynisfjara, the most famous beach in Iceland, was used as the foot of Dragonstone! The beach features a series of basalt caves and columns, Basalt is a dark, fine-grained igneous rock formed by the rapid cooling of iron-rich lava. This type of rock will draw me back to Iceland again and again. The lines it’s capable of forming are truly fascinating. Now reclaimed by the sea and indefinitely inaccessible, the basalt structures on Reynisfara feel extra special. I am proud to immortalize them in this series of prints.
Note: This set is version ii. There is also a version i available with a similar set of images.
